Dutch Institute for Healthcare Improvement CBO
History
CBO was founded in 1979 as Central Accompagnement Organization for peer review by the Dutch Association of Chief Medical Officers. Originally CBO focused on improving the quality of care by physicians and other healthcare professionals. From 1999 CBO is also focused on the organizational aspects of quality of care. Furthermore CBO accompanies organizations in systematically improving quality dimensions and patient safety, patient centeredness, effective and efficient care. In recent years the patient has become a direct partner in improving quality of care. The CBO employs about 30 professionals.
Mission
CBO has been working for over 30 years as a reference and research institute and a centre for implementation. Its aim is to improve the quality of healthcare.
Reference Institute
CBO is the reference institute, the benchmark in terms of quality of care. As an (inter)national center for expertise and innovation in the field of quality of care in the Netherlands and Europe, CBO works with a wide range of strategies, taken from both healthcare and other sectors. We have a large (inter)national network which helps us detecting and sharing effective methods.
Knowledge Institute
CBO is the knowledge institute in the field of quality of care. As an independent intermediary we are constantly moving between evolving medical science and daily practice of healthcare. We use well-founded methods for unlocking and organizing knowledge. In interpreting and making it accessible all relevant players are involved.
Implementation Center
CBO is the implementation centre in the Netherlands and Europe. We implement health care innovations, we innovate and build bridges, especially if there is:
- Complex professional systems;
- Situations where a sharp analysis of social and scientific and political trends is necessary to convert them into manageable instruments for the care;
- New healthcare issues.
Core
CBO focuses on the development, implementation and review of professional quality in healthcare. In addition, CBO (re)develops and validates of methods and quality tools. CBO focuses specifically on:
